1. Project Background: The project repurposed the disused intake by using local stone materials and leveraging the natural terrain to create a diverse ecological environment. Based on expert advice, the valuable geological fault was preserved to accommodate research and educational needs. The water conservation park, in addition to its original function, was enhanced with natural ecological and geological education features, aligning with the principle of harmonious coexistence between life, production, and ecology.
2. Construction Location: Taitung City, Taitung County.
3. Total Project Cost: NT$6,865,000.
4. Construction Period: From September 13, 2006, to December 26, 2006, with a total duration of 105 calendar days.
5. Project Details: One scenic wooden walkway, one scenic viewing terrace, one connecting road, park area renovation and maintenance, and other related works.

1. The original irrigation system was redesigned into a two-level system. The upper level serves as a water-friendly walkway, while the lower level is a culvert, preserving its irrigation function. Water from the upper level eventually flows back into the irrigation channel, ensuring no water is wasted.
2. The project not only promoted agricultural production but also created habitats for wildlife, improved the living environment, and supported the development of the nearby indigenous mountain community.
3. During the planning and design stages, frequent consultations with experts and local residents ensured the creation of an environment that meets local ecological and community needs.
4. The old, dangerous, and dilapidated irrigation channel running through an underdeveloped and cluttered area was transformed into a scenic, safe, and water-friendly channel, driving overall community development.
5. Initially met with skepticism from local residents, the project gradually gained acceptance, with the community eventually taking pride in it. A warm and formal handover ceremony marked the project's completion, with Wuling Prison jointly taking responsibility for the park's future maintenance.
1. The irrigation channel, previously in a state of neglect with overgrown weeds and accumulated litter, had been the site of fatal accidents. Following the project's completion, the channel's irrigation function was enhanced, and the nearby Wuling Community underwent a significant transformation. This improvement led to the community's recognition as a model by the Ministry of the Interior.
2. The project's completion dramatically changed the community’s landscape, turning Wuling into a picturesque paradise. The influx of visitors has boosted business opportunities for the economically disadvantaged indigenous Bunun tribe, increasing their income and improving their living standards. The success of this project has also inspired a greater sense of responsibility among indigenous residents to care for their environment and maintain the project’s outcomes, showcasing the project as a model for improving both physical surroundings and mental well-being.
3. The project has brought stable, safe, and clean irrigation water to nearly 1,000 hectares of farmland. Annual agricultural output has soared from NT$240 million to NT$540 million, adding around NT$300 million in value each year.
